National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) was established in 1986. NIFT is the National Level Exam conducted every year by National Institute of Technology. This year in 2021 the exam is going to be conduct in the third week of January 2021. NIFT provides admission in various courses like B.FT, B.DES. M.FT, M.Des, M.FM etc. After qualifying the NIFT written exam the candidates have to qualify the General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT). The candidates who clear the both the test is called for admission in various campuses.

The candidates who are interested in fashion and design technology can apply for NIFT 2021. The application for NIFT 2021 will be available in the 4th week of October 2020. Candidates can apply for NIFT 2021 till the last week of December 2020. For application form the candidates have to register themselves. The complete process of application contains these steps:

  • Registration: The candidate has to register by providing ail id and phone number.
  • Application form filling: After successfully registration the candidate has to fill all the details that will be asked in the application form.
  • Uploading of documents: After the filling of application form the candidate has to upload the qualification details, scanned photograph and scanned signature. All should be in the prescribed format.
  • Fee payment: When the all steps of application form completed the candidate has to pay the application fee. The candidate should pay the fee by their category. The candidate can pay the application fee by online and offline mode both.
  • Printing of application form: The candidates are advised to take a print of your application form for future use.

The candidates can register them by paying a late fee of Rs. 5000 till the last date which is 4th January 2021.


After completing the steps of application form the candidate will be asked to pay the application fee.  The candidate can pay the application fee by using net banking/credit card/ debit card etc. the candidate has to pay the application fee according to the category which is described here:

Before applying for NIFT 2021 the candidate must check the eligibility criteria. Here we have given the eligibility criteria for NIFT 2021.


  • There is no age limit for PG courses.
  • For UG courses the candidate maximum age limit for general category is 23 years old and for SC/ST category is 28-year-old.


Here we have described the qualification eligibility in two formats in which one is for UG courses and the second is for PG courses. Read the eligibility separately and carefully.


Course wise eligibility for UG courses:

  • B.F.Tech (Apparel Production) – passed class 12th with subjects physics, chemistry, and mathematics from a recognized board.
  • B.Des – passed class 12th from a recognized board


Course wise eligibility for PG courses;

  • M.F.Tech – Passed B.E./B.Tech/F.Tech from a recognized university or institution
  • M.Des – Passed bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or UG diploma in UG design from NIFT or NID.

The syllabus of NIFT 2021 will be from the sections of the question papers. The question paper will contain these sections:

  • Analytical ability
  • Communication ability
  • Quantitative ability
  • English comprehension

The syllabus for CAT and GAT varies yearly so the students are advised to check the syllabus through an online mode from the official website of NIFT. Creative Ability Test will contain a group discussion (GD) round.


If any candidate has filled any wrong information or forget to fill any detail, they have a chance to correct their application form. The correction window will be open from second week of January 2021. Here are some instructions how to correct the application form.

  • Students can also change the exam city center at the time of correction

The candidate has to do all the changes before the last date of correction. The authority will not provide any other chance to correct the application forms.


The admit card for NIFT 2021 will be available in the second week of January 2021 before few days of exam. The admit card can be download through online mode from the official website. The admit card is the most important document for the NIFT 2021 because the candidate can only be allowed to enter in the examination hall with admit card. The admit card will contain the following details:

  • Name of the candidate
  • Date of birth of the candidate
  • Exam center name
  • Address of exam center and code
  • Date and time of the exam
  • Photograph and signature of the candidate

How to download the Admit Card of NIFT 2021?

If any student has a discrepancy in the answer there is a right to every candidate raise objection against the discrepancy of the answer key. For objection the candidate has to pay a fee of Rs. 500.

  • Download the answer key in a PDF format
  • If you think any mistake or discrepancy is there in the answer key the candidate can raise the objection against the answer key. The date for objection raise is till the 4th week of January 2021.

The candidates can check the result of NIFT 2021 on the official website of NIFT. The result will be available through online mode only in the last week of February 2021. Here are the details how to download the admit card

 The candidates have to secure minimum cut off marks to be eligible for counseling. The candidates have to register them by paying a counseling fee select the campus than the seat will be allotted to the candidates. After the announcement of result the counseling session will start in the month of May or June 2021. A counseling letter is provided to the students for interview rounds. The students can download the counseling letter through official website of NIFT and bring the letter with them for GI and PI interview rounds. All the documents of the students are verified by the authority in counseling round.
