Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore conducts KVPY Exam every year. Basically, KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) is a national-level fellowship program. This program is meant for those applicants who are studying Basic science and wish to take up research career in the field of science. This fellowship programme which was launched in the year 1999 is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The main objective of the scheme is to take up the research careers in Science filed. KVPY Exam Date 2021

Aspiring applicants who wish to appear in KVPY Aptitude test need to have the knowledge of all the important dates regarding the exam. Read the table below to know all the important dates of the events happening in this exam:

KVPY Eligibility Criteria 2021

Applicants who wish to appear in the exam must follow the KVPY eligibility criteria set by the authorities. Go through the eligibility given below:

For SA Stream:

  • The applicant must possess Indian citizenship.
  • Applicant should have qualified their class 10 from a recognized board with Science & Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
  • Applicants must have scored at least 75% marks (65% for reserved category applicants).
  • Appearing applicants are also eligible to apply for KVPY Exam.

For SX Stream:

  • The applicant must possess Indian citizenship.
  • Aspiring applicants must have qualified class 12 or its equivalent examination.
  • Applicants should have qualified 12th level with Science subjects (PCB / PCM).
  • Applicants must have scored at least 75% marks in class 12th (65% for reserved category applicants).
  • Candidates appearing or waiting for their 12th class result are also eligible to apply.

For SB Stream:

  • The applicant must possess Indian citizenship.
  • Applicants who are in the first year of their UG degree are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants having UG degree in Basic Sciences should have science subjects such as Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics leading to B.Sc. /B.S. /B.Stat/B.Math. /Int. MS. /Int. M.Sc.
  • Candidates must have scored 60% marks (50% for reserved category applicants) in Science and Mathematics in class 12th.

The aspirants must know the exam pattern who are preparing for the KVPY exam. The exam pattern will provide the insights of the exam. This will help them to crack the exam with top marks. The exam pattern for each stream is provided in the table below:

KVPY Application Form 2021

Aspiring candidates who wish to appear in the KVPY aptitude test can follow the below steps to fill the application form.

Application Guidelines

  • Applicants can fill the application form through online mode only.
  • Hard copy of the application form does not need to submit to the official authority.
  • The application form will be available to the candidates form the second week of July 2021

Application Procedure

  • First of all, applicants need to go to the official website i.e http://kvpy.iisc.ernet.in/main/index.htm.
  • On the home page, start filling your application form. While filling the form, applicants need to start with the registration process.
  • After that the applicants need to fill personal and academic details, choose appropriate test centres and upload photo, signature and other required certificates.
  • After completing all the details the next step is to pay the application fee and take the printout of completely filled-in application form.
  • Applicants are suggested to keep the printout of application fee till the admission process gets over.

KVPY Application Fee

After successfully submitting the application form, applicants can proceed further by paying the application fee. The fee for KVPY Exam can be submitted using either Credit card or ATM-Debit Card or Net Banking. Candidates must remember that apart from these modes, no other mode of payment will be accepted. Also, no refund of application fee will be entertained, once the fee is submitted. KVPY Application fee varies as per the category of the students. The application fee for various category applicants is given in the table below:

KVPY Syllabus 2021

As such the authorities have not prescribed syllabus for KVPY aptitude exam. The exam is primarily meant to test the understanding and analytical ability of the candidates than his/her factual knowledge. However, candidates are need to prepare syllabus up to class 10/12/1st year of B.Sc. /B.S. / B.Math./B.Stat./ Int. M.Sc. /M.S. as applicable.

Applicants should go through the following preparation tips while preparing for the exams:

  • First and for most thing is to go through the exam syllabus prescribed by the authorities.
    • Search for the best seller books available in the market.
    • Just make short notes on a daily basis and keep on revising them.
    • Besides this go through the previous year question papers carefully.
    •  Look at the exam pattern.
    • Once your syllabus is almost completed start giving online mock tests which will help you a lot in cracking the exam.
    • Stay positive.
