GATE 2022: Application Form, Registration Fee, Last Date, Pattern & Process

IIT Bombay will open the links for online form submission of GATE Application Form 11 September 2021 tentatively. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering i.e., GATE is an online national level examination that is held for admissions in various programs like MTech, ME, and direct Ph.D.  The management opens the link of the GATE Application Form only one time in a year i.e., the GATE Exam is held only once a year. The application fee will be different for the applicants depending on their Gender, Category, and Nationality.

The GATE application forms submitted by applicants will then be examined by IIT Bombay and inform them about the defects in the submitted forms and will open the correction window tentatively from 17 November 2021 to 23 November 2021. However, applicants will be able to correct only the specified mistakes by paying the fee if applicable.

GATE Application Form will be available in online mode only on the official website of GATE. No other mode will be considered for filling the application form. To fill the GATE Application Form, applicants must follow the following step by step procedure:

STEP 1: Registration:

Before filling up the GATE Application Form, applicants need to do registration by below-given steps:

  • First of all, go to the official website of GATE i.e., www.gate.iitb.ac.in.
  • On the homepage of the website, click on the Registration option.
  • After clicking on registration, a registration form will open on your screen.
  • Now fill in all the required details like the Applicants Name, Date of Birth, Email Id, Mobile Number, and enter the captcha.

Step 2: Filling of GATE Application Form

  • Once the applicant is logged in, the GATE Application Form will be opened on your screen.
  • Fill in all the required details like:
  • Personal Details – In this section applicants need to fill in their basic details Name, Parents Name, Category, Gender, address, etc., and then click on save and next to proceed to the next slide.
  • Academic Details – In this slide applicants need to fill in their educational details, Name, and Address of the qualified Exam’s School or College. Click on save and the next option to proceed to the next slide.
  • GATE Details – Subjects of GATE paper, Preferences of cities for GATE Examination 
  • Uploading Documents – Upload the documents like photograph, signature, eligibility certificate in pdf format, Category certificate if applicable, PwD certificate if applicable, etc. Click on save and the next option to proceed further.
  • Now the applicants need to pay the application fee as per their category and nationality to complete the application form. After making an online payment, a payment receipt will be auto-generated. Download and take the printout of the payment receipt.

Step 3: GATE Application Fee

  • GATE Application Fee will vary for various applicants depending on their Gender, Category as well as nationality.
  • The payment for the GATE Application Fee can be done through a net banking facility/ debit card or credit card only.
  • Offline mode i.e., E-challan mode of payment has been discarded from the GATE registration process.
  • GATE Application Fee will neither be refundable nor transferable.
  • Applicants will be charged additional online transactions, as per the banking norms.
  • Applicants belonging to ST/ SC/ PwD category will need to upload valid documentary evidence for concession in fees.

  • First of all, applicants need to go to the official website of GATE i.e., www.gate.iitb.ac.in
  • On the home page of the website, click on the GATE 2021 registration link.
  • Now, Applicants need to log in to their registered accounts using their credentials.
  • The applicant’s status will be displayed on the screen.
  • If the applicant’s application status of GATE shows ‘Under Scrutiny or Process’, then the applicants need not to worry.
  • The managing authorities will inspect all the GATE application forms 2021 and those applicants whose application form needs to be rectified in photograph/signature / supporting document will get an automatic SMS /email.
